Snapchat's about. You start going, well, do you realize that your messages in Snapchat disappear? Do you realize that your child is in an environment where anyone that's on their friends list can see where they are within a meter of where they're standing? Are you aware that Snapchat's the number one app that's being used for groomers in terms of content? And why is your child wanting to hide messages from you? So what do you think the accountability is there? And parents are absolutely.
Dumbfounded by this. I was invited to speak at a school about two years ago, and it was a primary school. And one of the questions that came in, and this is for grade fives, the question was, which is better for my children, Snapchat or Instagram? And I was going, your children are 10. Neither. But the parents weren't aware of what the ramifications are of the emotional intelligence required to be in that social media environment. And their little 10-year-old daughters.
We're not, shouldn't be in any of those. But the parents were just caught up in the whole kind of societal care pressure of being part of what's going on. We touched on this when we spoke last time, Marco, and you were talking about some of the horrible things that happen online. And it's also just the normalization of sexuality, for example, normalization of drugs. If you see an influencer, I don't know, it's the same reason they stop putting.
Cigarettes in TV shows. It was just frowned upon and they stopped putting people smoking. The actors wouldn't smoke in movies anymore or on TV shows. It's a thing. But that's control isn't there on social media. So if you're normalizing sex and a 13-year-old, 10-year-old is seeing it, then it just becomes normalized as well. And that just leads to trouble. Absolutely. And I mean, just from a purely scientific position on that, whatever you see most.
Becomes normal and whatever is normal becomes acceptable. And that's everything from language to morals and values to ethics. And you can see how certain language being used in mainstream media is going to affect the way that the populace is going to respond. And so if you keep reinforcing a certain way of saying something or the way of doing something or the way of presenting something, that becomes
Normal. I'm just using something really mundane. We drive on the left-hand side of the road. That's normal for us. We go to the United States, they're driving on the right-hand side of the road. That's abnormal until we've been there for a while and then it becomes normal for us. And it's the same thing with, as you say, with sexuality. When it comes to gender identity issues, a lot of that kind of stuff is happening now because of the conversations and the inferences that are happening online. And I'm not discrediting the genuine.
