Still impacted, officials say it's been hard to verify the true extent of the disaster's impact. Estimates suggest roughly 10,000 families in Nepal also need immediate humanitarian relief. But among the stories of distress and disaster, there's also some hope. On Fridays, rescuers digging through mud and rocks at hydropower tunnels in Nepal heard voices from inside one of the tunnels, and a few minutes later, two men were pulled out alive.

When the floods hit last week, 900 workers across 12 hydropower projects in Nepal were reported missing. Officials say roughly 500 are likely trapped inside these tunnels. Rescuers say this has been a challenging operation and they hope there could be more workers trapped inside still who could now be rescued. Last week's floods were likely caused by a glacier melting and breaking off. Scientists have for years warned how quickly glaciers aim.
