And if we chat about that, so something as simple as back in the day, you could go buy Microsoft, you pay that once off, let's call it a thousand rands, you've got it. Now they're like, no, don't buy, just pay as you need. Monthly. Yes, but I heard somebody saying soon they're going to make us rent our own bodies, rent our bodies from others. Yeah, I mean, I think that's very true. I remember back when I was in university, I mean, we all used to walk around with,
Like little CDs which had a software in it, and you had that license key from Microsoft. You're right. Today you have to pay a 365 subscription for you to do that. And I think in my industry today, this is the biggest sort of pain point. Let's call it that. With SAP and Oracle, what they're doing in South Africa and the rest of the world is they're saying, guys, you're no longer going to own that software.
Because today they bought the software, they own it in perpetuity, right? It's a perpetual license. But then tomorrow or in two or three years' time, where they're introducing cloud solution, which is a subscription model that you're talking about, you're not going to own that anymore. You're going to pay a certain term, and then, you know, as and when they want, they can switch it off. And the reason they're doing it is because for them, it's easy to innovate when.
You on their cloud. And there's a lot of pushback with a lot of clients where they're saying, I don't want that. I want to own my own software. I think I was talking to one of the SOEs recently and they said to me, Today I own the software. And then tomorrow you're telling me I must just give it to you and then I pay you on a monthly basis. No, I don't want that. And also I think the biggest challenge you have with South Africa is that I mean a lot of the maybe government institutions, because many of them use
The software they don't want to go to the cloud, and today they are forced to go to the cloud because of data risk and space data residency issues, and so those are the things that a lot of clients are concerned about. And let's be honest, it is expensive for you to put your data on the cloud because you always have to query it. And also, once you give it to someone, you don't own it anymore, right? So, listen, I've heard the horror.
