SAfm, Sunday morning

Breakfast. Thank you so much, Kobotsu. I really missed you guys last week. We missed you even more, man. We missed you. We missed you. But I missed you the most, just to say. Oh, you should have heard her increase herself to Tessa Dooms, who came through here. This one, whoever it is, is in front of her. She goes, but no, but no, let's get right down to the two articles. Let's start with the one of.

Violence. You and I happen to have grown around more or less. I mean, I think we're about five years apart in age, but we grew up during the 1980s. I mean, I promise you, it has never been as bad for people like you and I, who grew up in the Myron Hill area. I grew up in Hammarsdale, which basically was called the Little Beirut by international newspapers, where you could not even walk in the streets. And yet, you and I, and as I start to know, is you and

I know that you can now walk anywhere in the province of KwaZulu-Natal and you see anyone who wants to wear their IFP t-shirt wears it, who wants to wear an EFF t-shirt, wears it, and so on. And so for me, there's been, I do not know whether it's complacency, where I felt like there's a certain normalization of the situation, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal, because what you are talking about, the violence around elections, is KwaZulu-Natal. Are we being hysterical by now starting to say, let's warn against the return?

Through that time with the recent killings happening. Definitely not, Sundume, so we are not being hysterical. And you are correct. There was a time when it felt strange seeing people freely moving about in their different political party regalia, different political party posters. And then we got used to it over time. But there has been an underlying violence that peaks in election year.

Research published last month by the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime recorded 45 suspected political attacks between January and September 2026, leaving at least 43 people dead. KZN accounted for 16 attacks, and Khao Teng 10 of those attacks. So the recorded death toll in Domeso had already exceeded the full year figures in the organization's monitoring.

For the elections years 2021 and 2024. So we're not only living with this scourge, it's actually increasing. We're facing more and more of it. It's intensifying. More people are dying each election year. Sure. And no, again, I mean, it seems like a ridiculous question to ask. What is it about? Is it about a very peculiar and bipecular just?

Different history of the province of KwaZulu-Natal that the violence should be concentrated in this particular province. The PKTT exists purely because it is KwaZulu-Natal. The Morani Commission exists purely because it was in KwaZulu-Natal. Cindy Somagaka, that unsolved still, I mean, is it solved? Is it not solved? What is it about the political
