702, Friday evening

Oh, what a place. 702. You are listening to the Money Show's best bits. The most astonishing story arriving today, and thanks to Business Day for this. Sun City took a tuck shop in the Eastern Cape, in the massive megalopolis of Fort Beaufort, to the company's tribunal because it called itself the Sun City Tuck Shop. I went to go and look at it on Google.

Is not a big establishment. And yet, the tribunal said, well, they cannot call themselves that. I mean, they're a long way away from Sun City, the hotel complex, which is in northwest. Craig Shapiro is an executive in the intellectual property practice at ENS. He suggests Sun City actually had no choice. A really interesting conversation. Hi, Stephen. Thank you so much for having me. Such a privilege. The law is very clear. I know this situation strikes.

One as David versus Goliath from the sublime to the ridiculous. Why would one bully this tiny little tuck shop in the Eastern Cape? But this tiny little tuck shop can do serious harm to Sun International and the rights that they've acquired. And what we're really talking about here is trademark law. And what's interesting about it is it's the only form of intellectual property that you can own perpetually. And so there are certain groups.
