Cape Talk, Tuesday afternoon

Cricket South Africa's details are widely available. You are more than welcome to give them a call, write them an email, send them a WhatsApp, tag them on X or whatever the, you know, send them a Snapchat video. I don't know. We did ask them and they didn't reply. We asked Shokri Conrad and his answer was, hey, I just choose the team, which is not a bad answer. Okay, so, yeah, I've no idea.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that the Australians have to go home and play badminton against Papua New Guinea. I have no idea what the answer is. Kyle Cowan, Investigative Journalist News 24, whose source led to some coverage being allowed of the ongoing trial on fraud, theft, and uttering. I love that. I charge you with uttering. That trial continues. And Kyle.

Cowan, good afternoon. Are you still the only journalist and/or member of the public taking notes? Good afternoon, Joan, and good afternoon to the listeners. I am joined by a colleague from Daily Maverick today, which I'm very glad for. Of course, my colleague from News24, Kaya Corko, has also stepped in to help me out a little bit as I struggle to navigate this increasingly complex sort of web of pseudonyms and names and dates and times. But what you have reported, what you have been able

To between yourself and the editorial staff, work out is safe to report is that the ANC suggested a plan, which the State Security Agency liked and implemented, to try and infiltrate the EFF, which is not something that the State Security Agency really should be doing, I don't think. No, and I think, John, this speaks to, you know, we've had findings by the High Level Review Panel and by the Zondo Commission.

Of during the Zuma years and sort of at the height of state capture 2014-2015, there was this depoliticization of the SSA. And this is what they were referring to. At that time, we've got very limited information about the sort of projects that the SSA was involving itself in. Now, many years later, almost a decade later, the details are finally starting to emerge. And I think if listeners will recall back to 2015, there was that very chaotic scene at Sona where President then President

Jacob Zuma was interrupted repeatedly with chants of pay back the money and questions about when he would pay back the money for the upgrades to his Nkandla homestead. And there was a very sinister sort of incident where signal jammers were used to block cell phone signals just before Sona kicked off. And this project seems to be linked directly to all of those events, the rise of the EFF in challenging Jacob Zuma and the ANC trying to respond to that. And it looks like they roped in friends in high places.
