Gold above $4 100: What your Krugerrand is really worth

November, so just around the corner, attention is turning to the technology supporting the voting and results process. And behind the results dashboards lies a complex network of systems, of security controls, and technical teams that have got to perform under intense pressure. In that respect, I want to talk to Hasnan Modlika, who's acting chief executive officer of BCX. You'll know that as the technology services arm of telecom. And let's talk about the risks, the safeguards,

And accountability involved in protecting this critical democratic process. So, Hasnanin, welcome to you. How vulnerable then is the election infrastructure to a major tech failure on voting day or even during the results process? Do we need to be worried? We don't think so. We were actually doing a state of readiness assessment and we were actually assessing what we put into place. If you remember, Talcon was the main connectivity provider for the 2010 World Cup. And one of the

Our project lady said, this is probably multiple World Cups of what you put into place from a redundancy perspective, from a capacity, from a readiness assessment. We've been on site since the 9th of October. We've deployed connectivity across the country to the 400 sites we're currently servicing, including the regional operations centers. So we believe we are ready from a capacity and assessment, the technology that we've also evolved the technology from our whole MPLS to an SDW.

Which creates redundancy and flexibility built in the network. The network creates its own rerouting capability. And we've added significant capacity in terms of the number of exchanges we feed up. We've added, we're not just running off one exchange to feed the National Center, we've created two exchanges. We've created double redundancy on-site with a third redundancy from a wireless perspective, and even a fourth off-site redundancy. So we believe this is the most prepared we've been for any elections because we've been.

Of course, Telkom and B6 has had the privilege of being the service provider since democracy. And we take this not just a contracted obligation, it's our commercial obligation. We take this as very seriously because Telkom itself is only a year older than democracy, and we had the privilege, like I said, of being at every election servicing the IEC and making sure we deliver outcomes. So, by all accounts, all bases covered, and that is good to hear. But, notwithstanding, what would you?

Consider to be the single greatest point of vulnerability in a system of this scale? Because we've implemented SD-WAN solution that creates automatic rerouting and flexibility. Because we've added the capacity, there isn't a singular point of failure. There might be failures at the edge in terms of certain of the 400 counting stations that we've actually provided connectivity for. But for us, the major issue would be ensuring that the network stays up at the
