Cape Talk, Thursday morning

That we're losing people's lives, and people continue with their own lives as if nothing has happened. They need to take responsibility for what has happened in the last few days. And tomorrow is an opportunity for them when they meet with my department that they come up and say they are going to stop this, what is happening in our province. Because one life lost is one life too many. Thank you very much. Isaac Saleka, there's the MEC for Urban Mobility. Let me speak to Walid Jaffa. He's the chairperson of DALF Safe Passage Neighborhood One.

What is quite scary about yesterday's shooting, Walid, is that it is very close to a primary school. In fact, a school in which your two children attend. Tell me what went through your mind yesterday morning in Delft. Hi, good morning, Mr. Yeah. What happened yesterday was I actually have two children that go to that school, that attends to that school. And after the shooting early in the morning,

I just decided not to send them to school. I called their parents, telling them what happened about the shooting, etc. And then they also agreed. But the sad part is when we were on the road, and two girls actually came down the road and said there was shooting. And I said to them, No, I know about the shooting, but when I noticed,

They were really traumatized because they had blood on the sides of their pants, and the one had blood on the jacket and on the pants. So I asked them what happened. They told me that they were shooting at the taxi rank, and as they fell to the floor, the person that they shot actually fell on both of them. And you know, the kind of trauma.

That I saw in their face the fear that they were shivering. So I had to ask one of the neighbors just to give them a little bit of sugar water just to calm them down. People are questioning this morning whether they use their taxi rank to get to work, whether they send their children to school. What's the feeling like in Delft this morning? Okay, this morning, actually, just before the school came.
