Cape Talk, Thursday night

And gangsters fear metro police, leap officers, members of the South African Police Service. Okay, let me explain to you, and you can actually ask the PKTT because you're going to have to give me more than a minute here. When they were taking me to Pietermaritzburg prison, I said to them, guys, if you're taking me to prison thinking you're going to scare me, you're taking me to the wrong place. And that is a fact. On the Cape Flats, young boys don't fear the saps. They don't fear Metro, they don't fear prisons. But I just want to get back to the issue of.

Safety. Let's just go there. You know, when the DAMEC for Safety and Security, Anu La Rue, makes a statement in the Sunday Times, she says that the violence in the Cape Flats is not that bad. It will tell you where their priorities are. And when she mentioned one of the people killed, the only person she mentioned was Mark Luffman, who happens to be white. That's where their priorities are. Now, I want to tell you right now, this morning, Artery, which is the red zone, there's a gang war going on there.

Got the news now. Three leap officers deployed. In Muizenberg, they have six watching the waves on the surface. That's where their priorities are, where the white people live. Now, we understand the budgetary constraints. We do. We understand the city conflicts, all of it. We do. However, they must never tell us that they're doing their best, ever. Because we need someone else's best. Now, if you want to solve the issue of crime, and I'm sure Dr. Nias is going to agree with me, 80% of this country's problems can be solved with land.

Release our land, empty the ghettos. We're knocking elbows where we live. There's so much frustration around them. What do you expect to happen? And every sub-council meeting, they say you must go to the next sub-council meeting anywhere in the category. You know what you're going to see? Liquor applications. They flood us with liquor stores. Opposite schools, opposite churches. They don't care. Now, I'm sure he's a Nigerian OCE, and it's not a slur, somewhere in CPO that wants to open an after-hours tavern. He's never going to.
