702, Saturday morning

I've always been inspired to do community work. That is why, if you go to my law firm, it used to buy shoes for children in schools. And in the U.S., Krista Pike said she remains in constant pain, struggles to speak, and has been largely isolated in a prison hospital after surviving a lethal injection last month. This was Pike's first public statement since she survived a lethal injection at a prison in Tennessee where she was scheduled to be executed.

For a murder she committed in 1995. She survived two doses of pentobarbital that a lawyer says probably didn't enter her bloodstream correctly and instead pulled in her arms, leaving them burned and blistered. Pike remains sentenced to die, and her attorneys want the sentence to be commuted to life in prison. Gauteng will be partly cloudy today with isolated showers and thundershowers.
