SAfm, Wednesday afternoon

It will say Uvel. But in these places, in most of these places, you can do that and check. If you request from El Dorado Park, it will just give you a street name without mentioning that is El Dorado Park. Okay, but that would be but that would be a floating system then, right? I mean, that system must change. Yes, that system was changed to manipulate and make sure that the driver does not see that this is El Dorado Park, so that they can still go to that area and service that area. Sure.

How and then you were saying about you know vetting drivers because I mean look I use I use ubers and I use them often right and one of the big features and a lot of my family does one of the big features that we have is we have the we have the identification of the driver we we know the car we know their number plate we also track the drive so there's a there's multiple layers of safety you remove that and suddenly an e-haling car whichever one it is uber bolt whatever is far less attractive to use and it'll

Collapse the entire industry. So, you as e-halers have an onus, the onus is on you to ensure that the safety of the passengers is paramount. But then, conversely, your next point about how do you ensure that the driver is safe. So, how do you then ensure that, besides the dash cam, how do you then vet the passenger? That's the unfortunate part. And we always see it with the passengers. A lot of times, when you are picking them up in a certain area, they expect

You to know who they are. Unfortunately, we just have a name on our side. That's all that we have. Contrary to what you have on your side, you have the picture of the driver, the name, the color of the car, the number plates, and so forth. It does not happen with passengers. That's why these criminals are able to sign up. They know that you won't be able to identify them or anything. And maybe if I may just add my quick once in word: maybe if you think of a SIM card, maybe it needs to go down.

That road means everybody who's on there. I mean, there has to be a payment already linked because you're not taking cash, right? There must be a type of SIM card identification that means you have to subscribe to Uber or Bolt before you actually even can ehale that card. That has to come first. But until we've got regulations that compels the app platforms themselves to undertake those processes, we will not have that because their interests.

Is not in saving lives, but just making money out of us. So what they do is that Ashraf comes without all these documents, they sign you up. No one holds them accountable. With now, with all these deaths that have happened, they are not held accountable for any of them to say, you have a platform, you sign up people and they commit crime. How do you sign up these people? Nothing compels them. That's why we were saying the regulations must be able to compel them.

As you would have as a workplace safety, it is there. There's regulations that say, as an employer, these are the steps that you need to take to make sure that your employees are safe. But with these platforms, there is nothing like that. There's nothing like that. Something has got to change. Meli Tembanguni, the secretary of the e-Hailing Partners Council. So, what advice can you give the e-hailing industry, both to protect the drivers against criminals who actually use?
