Power FM, Tuesday afternoon

Okay. On the 1st of May this year, China and South Africa introduced, Mr. Pakistan introduced a zero tariff initiative with China, which means that all qualifying products from South Africa have zero tariffs to China. So it's an expansion opportunity, it's a scaling opportunity, it's a new market opportunity. Having said that, there's also the UAE, there's the Gulf, and there's Europe that have now stepped forward. So there are other opportunities we need to defend.

All right, we'll leave it at that with Yavi Madroi, President African Prosperity Fund, talking about South Africa and Rwanda being excluded from Agoa. It is just after half past four, and it's time for the news headlines as we say. Good afternoon to Zulibanzi Mazibugu. Thank you, Mr. B. A very good afternoon in newsmaking headlines at this hour. The IEC has recorded a sharp increase in acts of criminality involving party support.

In some instances, ranging from intimidation of officials, tampering with election material, and disruption to election processes. The Chief Electoral Officer Simon Mabolo briefed the media from the National Results Operations Center this afternoon on the Commission's preparedness and as the special voting continues ahead of tomorrow's main voting day. The Commission has also noted a sharp increase in actions of prohibited conduct.

and glaring criminal behavior. For instance, in Mpumalanga, a candidate in Wad 30 stormed a voting station, damaged electoral materials. This candidate has now been arrested. In KwaZulu-Natal, supporters of McControdo Party stormed the Dasan Hook Library satellite warehouse where election materials are kept and held election officials.

Stage. In other news, the Congress of South African Trade Unions has blamed lobby groups Solidarity and AfriForum for contributing to the breakdown in diplomatic relations between South Africa and the United States. This follows the US government's decision to end South Africa's participation in the African Growth and Opportunity Act, known as AGOA. We think they played a very unhelpful, very destructive role. We think that they fueled fake news, they fueled we believe in.

Fueled conspiracies about white persecution, etc. And I think from Solidarity can deny as much as they want. But the whole world has been watching them going off to the US for the past 10 years, instigating all sorts of wild conspiracy theories, which are just simply not based upon reality about life for South Africa. They've undermined the South African democratically elected government. They've not helped. And they now need to own this. This is the product of their struggles. So if we exit AGOA in January, they must go.

To farmers in the Western Cape, white Afrikaans farmers, and explain to them why they lost it on their contracts. And finally, American voters are heading to the polls in medium-term elections that could reshape the balance of power in Congress. Opinion polls suggest Democrats are favored to win control of the House of Representatives while the Senate race remains uncertain. I will have more details on these and other stories at the top of the hour. Taking to your roads and your power traffic, anticipate delays.
