702, Tuesday morning

The point of contention between the Israeli government and the South African government. That's really the nub of the issue that causes even divisions in the approach in the Middle East, and which, of course, those divisions have deteriorated the relations between the two countries. I see some of you are sending us your WhatsApp, so we'll give an opportunity to hear those in a moment on 0727021702. Yeah, Mr. Feder, you can comment.

On what I was saying earlier, I wanted to give you an opportunity before we move on to other issues, just an opportunity to comment on what some of the members of the Israeli government are saying. I gave you an example of the Minister of Defense. I know you're saying that it's an option to say people in Gaza must leave if they want to, but that's not a sense that I've gotten from him. In the interviews that he's done, he's suggesting that this immigration process will actually be.

Facilitated by any means, which implies to me that that sounds like a policy of coercion. And he's not the only one. I looked at the Heritage Minister, for instance, who has also said things that were quite problematic towards the people in Gaza. He has said that, in fact, he floated the idea of dropping an atomic bomb on Gaza. And I know I remember Prime Minister Netanyahu kicking him out of the meetings.

Of the Council of Ministers, but he was still kept in office. Someone who makes a statement like that. Do you understand why people look at these examples and say, I mean, is there a policy here of just throwing people out of Gaza and turning that place into an Israeli territory? So, Clement, thank you very much for getting back to that and letting me comment. I think it's very important that we try and avoid.

Manipulation of quotes that have been said or used. And it unfortunately, as someone who was the spokesperson in Paris dealing with media for the last three years before arriving here, I've been dealing with that quite a lot. And so just for the two examples that you provided, if we look at the example of the Ministry of Defence, if you look at the entire sentence and not just take in quotes by any means necessary and then put

Your interpretation or other people's interpretation, which often happens because the news agencies, they quote the two, three words that are selling the most for their clients. But if you look at this quote, for example, just to show you the manipulation, what he said is by any means necessary, and the next few words were

land, sea, and air. So basically any means necessary doesn't mean forceful or not forceful, voluntary or not voluntary, any means necessary. He was just mentioning the ways in which people can leave Gaza. Okay? So again, if it go if I go back to the discussion that we had before the break, that complicated and difficult solutions need to be found
