947, Wednesday morning

To school, you go into the gym, you go. So, you may have missed the conversation we had yesterday after eight o'clock. Yeah, I think this is, I mean, this is tricky. We've changed her name because of this. Yes. I don't think everyone's been in this situation, but I think if you have, this hits very true. So, her name has been changed. She slid into my DMs last week. And naturally, last week I was chasing the Northern Lights there. So, as soon as I came back, I said to Frankie, Papa, you got to do this. Get along.

Of this, so her name is Veronica, not her real name. She got added to her management WhatsApp group by mistake. She's been on this thing for four months, and as her letter says, is hey guys, been listening to the show, I need advice. So, here goes, I'm a junior accountant and the company in Sandton four months ago. My manager added me to the leadership team's WhatsApp group by mistake. I never said a word, I just read the parking bay fights, somebody was stealing Woolly's muffins from the boardroom, a two-week walk.

Or whether we should replace the recoffee with the coffee machine. Then on Tuesday night, I'm assuming this is last week, Tuesday. Must be. The CFO posted next year's budgets. Oh, I didn't realize. Chief Financial Officer. Oh, what a blunder. I opened it, saw that on row 47 had been counted twice. Now that's a 1.2 million rand mistakes. Six managers said looks good to the budget. I then typed a message, then I deleted it, then I typed it again, and then I hit send. Row 47 is double count.

I said the group went completely silent. 30 seconds later, my manager called me. I'm scared to tell you what happened next, but I need to know first: did I do the right thing by flagging this mistake? I saved the business 1.2 million rand. But also, you were snooping there for months in the WhatsApp group. Do you know what it is? You know, because now I've had 24 hours to think about it as well, because I'm absolutely on her side. I think you did the right thing. You saved the company 1.2 million rand, whichever way they look at it. But you really

Were snooping if you went into a document that's been sent on WhatsApp and you were on row 47. So you are like just sitting there reading things that because ordinarily you wouldn't be allowed to see the budget. No, no, privileged information. Yes, I told you guys that's why I would not have said a word. I mean, I may have told my five friends in the office what I saw, but I certainly would not tell management that I saw that. So you would let them make a 1.2 million rand mistake? Yes. No, you would have been fine up until it comes to both.

This time, and they say, Sorry, we don't, we, you know, we fell 1.2 million short, so nobody's getting a bonus. I'm not familiar with a bonus, so it's fine. Nothing's changed in my life, what Temiguillo would say. So here's the thing: 0118838947. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you are, you have all of this information, but you can't use it because the person is gonna ask you, how do you have this information? Why do you have this information? But now, because you are snooping. Oh, yes. It's what happens when you go into other people's phones, eh?

But no, this was on my phone. You guys added me to your group. And you stayed for months. You added me. This was your mistake. Y'all should get fired. No, I think she was in the wrong here. She should have left that group. Look, 2020 vision, always looking hindsight, right? But she should have left that group the minute she got added. And now, and to your point, that's privileged information. Why were you so deep in that budget? Because what does it, because you know what those budgets have? They have everything, they have staff salaries, they've got.
