702, Thursday afternoon

Let's go to KwaZulu-Natal now, where Tabiso Goba is at the results center. Tabiso, good afternoon to you. Give us a picture of how MK is doing in KZN. Good afternoon, Mandy. I actually do have a bit of breaking news for you. The MK Party has just won its first municipality in KZN. It is the Richmond Local Municipality. 100% of the counting is done, and the MK Party got 56.3%. So they are definitely going to be governing the Richmond.

Local municipalities. So this is the first municipality that will be governed solely by the NK Party. And so this is obviously big news for the NK Party. I just spoke to some of its representatives there saying that, you know, this is just the first of many municipalities that the party is expecting to be governing. But in terms of NK Party Nandy, we are currently now just standing at over 18% of the 20% of the votes that are counting the

MK party is obviously leading in the number of seats, is also even leading in the number of supports. So a very, very strong showing by the MK Party in Buzzoul Nadal. It is obviously slightly expected, Mandy. We know that in the 2024 national and provincial elections, the MK Party, a majority of the people in KZ voted for the MK party. And it seems like that momentum from 2024, the party has now carried it into these 2026.

Local government elections. We did have an opportunity to speak to the NK Party provincial spokesperson, Mr. Mkusa Limlingani, about what he's expecting the NK Party to do well here in Kizedan. The information that we are receiving on the ground is that we're doing beyond what we've expected in terms of results. We're doing very well, to be precise, almost in every municipality.

All districts were taking votes from DA, we are taking votes from IFP, we are taking votes from the ANC, of course. So we are very much happy. And maybe what do you attribute this to? I know obviously this is the second elections MK party is participating in, but it's your first local government elections. Maybe what are you attributing this sort of success of the MK Party? I think our people are tired. They are yearning for change. They want a political party that

Speaks to their needs. I think Monkondo says resonate with them on those bases. Well, that's the picture. And KwaZulu-Natal, thank you to Tabiso for that. Let's come back to the results center here and look at the national picture. I'm joined by Asha Saropan from the Democratic Alliance. Asha, thank you so much for your time today. Overall, how is the DA feeling? Big suburban turnout. The DA doing really well, eating into the ANC.
