Police say 11 people, including a pregnant woman, were killed and three wounded after at least three gunmen attacked a house in KwaMakuta; possible gang links are being investigated.

CETA’s new managing director Makato Milo said 60% of executives were acting, the agency had five managing directors in five years, and a full executive team should be in place by December.

Milo rejected calls to scrap CETA, arguing its 3,800 IT professionals manage applications, networks, broadband projects and field services that would be difficult to replicate across government departments.

He attributed more than R3.2 billion in irregular expenditure largely to poor contract management, saying business-unit leaders—not only supply chain officials—must be held accountable.
