Police are investigating possible links between eight women found dead around Ekurhuleni; only two have been identified, with specialised detectives, intelligence officers and forensic experts deployed.

Former SAPS profiler Elmarie Meyberg said the geographic clustering, similar bruising and body locations raise suspicion, but investigators must compare detailed crime-scene patterns before confirming a serial murderer.

Meyberg said a task team should be formed once a possible serial killer is identified, while DNA from post-mortems will be compared with the national database and previous cases.
