With matric finals starting Tuesday, Anele and the Club spent the morning on exam prep, with a psychologist, a dietitian and an education expert giving calming, nutrition and study advice.
- 07:12
Matric finals start tomorrow, and education psychologist Zakira Muhammad urged students to breathe slowly, use grounding techniques, and avoid post-mortems of papers once they are finished.
- 07:35
The dietitian advised complex carbohydrates and protein, with breakfast eaten an hour and a half to two hours before a morning exam, and at least two litres of water daily.
- 07:37
The dietitian warned that energy drinks should be avoided by children under 18, since caffeine and guarana are not tested for that age group and safe limits are unknown.
- 07:49
Professor Linda Mayer recommended reading two or three pages at a time, then recalling them, and downloading free past exam papers from the IEB and Department of Basic Education websites.
