Soul City: Let’s Rise actors Boule Base and NBA Malaka described the responsibility of joining the legacy franchise, which tackles young South Africans’ relationships, identity and social challenges.

Boule Base launched Within Collective, a platform connecting cinematic storytelling with South African social issues, beginning with gender-based violence and planned partnerships with NGOs.

The actors said Soul City’s storylines show gender-based violence as a community responsibility, with families, friends and neighbours needing to help prevent abuse and protect vulnerable girls.

Within Collective events screen an impactful story, host an expert-and-audience panel, and end with a personal call to action for attendees to help create change.

NBA Malaka will appear in Janice Honeyman’s Alice in Wonderland pantomime at Joburg Theatre from November through December, with performances designed for the whole family.
