President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a national recovery operation for unresolved murders, rapes and serious sexual offences involving women and children, with an audit due within 60 days.

Government will investigate the 11 women found dead in Ekurhuleni through a multidisciplinary team; arrests have been made, but police have found no evidence of a single perpetrator.

Ramaphosa ordered municipal women’s safety audits, urgent action on hazards such as broken streetlights and unsafe public spaces, and quarterly public reporting on progress.

Economist John Loos said temporarily cutting the fuel levy could save consumers, but Treasury may resist because it could create expectations of repeated relief while government reduces debt.

Estate planning advice included using retirement funds and correctly nominated beneficiaries to reduce estate duty and ensure surviving family members receive money without waiting years for an estate to close.
