Ramaphosa ordered a 60-day national recovery operation for unresolved murders, attempted murders, rapes and serious sexual offences involving women and children, with recovery plans due within 90 days.

Municipalities must complete women’s safety audits within 60 days, identifying hazards including broken street lights, unsafe transport routes, abandoned buildings and poorly secured public spaces.

TransUnion reported that 54% of surveyed consumers had cut discretionary spending, while 46% had abandoned credit applications as households reassessed affordability and new obligations.
