Vusimuzi Kat Matlala denied any personal or corrupt relationship with suspended police minister Senzo Mchunu, saying he had never met him and only raised the issue through an attorney.

Matlala later declined to answer questions on active police investigations, including alleged impala deliveries linked to Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya, citing pending criminal matters and potential prejudice.

SADC leaders in Durban were criticised for weak follow-through on agreements, especially the 2005 free-movement protocol; the bloc has only seven ratifications and the agreement is still not legally binding.
