Bulchebendalu was celebrated in studio after winning Basadi Traditional Artist of the Year, with the conversation stressing her work as a storyteller, healer, philanthropist and gender activist.

Uganda was the day’s Roots Rhythm and Life country: population over 45.9 million, capital Kampala, currency the shilling, and official languages English and Swahili.

The country’s history was traced from British control in 1894 to independence on 9 October 1962, with the British influence starting in 1890 and the Buganda Agreement of 1900 shaping local administration.

The culture and food segment highlighted over 56 ethnic groups, including the Baganda, Banyankole, Karamoja and Bagisu, plus staples like matoke, luwombo, rolex, Uganda Waragi and tonto.

Tourism highlights included gorilla tracking in Bwindi and Mgahinga, boat safaris on the Nile and Kazinga Channel, white-water rafting at Jinja, and Kampala stops like the Kasubi Tombs and Ndere Cultural Centre.
