Professor Somato Dana Fikeni’s Madlanga Commission testimony was praised for shifting attention from personalities to systemic failures, including weak institutions, poor vetting, leadership instability and a political economy of inefficiency.

The host said nine women’s bodies had been found across Ekurhuleni, with a tenth reported in Soweto, while questioning whether South Africa’s institutions can respond effectively to escalating violence.

South Africa and other African countries were urged to unite around critical minerals, common regulation and continental markets, rather than negotiating separately with more consolidated powers such as China, India and Europe.

Confidence was defined as an internal quality linked to humility, while effective leadership requires competence, self-discipline, functioning systems and developing successors who can carry an institution beyond one individual.
