Deep Learning Indaba in Lagos was highlighted as Africa’s premier AI conference, founded in South Africa in 2017 and themed “sovereign intelligence, African scale,” with a push for local languages, data control and African-led solutions.

Listeners warned that AI can make people lazy and weaken critical thinking, while others argued it should aid work rather than replace human judgement or effort.

Parenting coach Zonke Shazwe Krongwane said children do grieve, but often through behaviour, schoolwork, sleep or health; adults should use simple language, include them in death and loss conversations, and seek professional help when grief overwhelms the family.

Simpiwe Ngidi closed the four-part progress series with three habits: compare yourself to yesterday, not others; improve relationships by making someone else’s day better; and aim to end each day just 1% better.
