Relationship therapist Leflo Ronolo Mazendo said repeatedly confiding in friends before a spouse can signal emotional unsafety, but triangulation is inappropriate unless direct communication is unsafe or abusive.

Mazendo advised couples to use “I” statements, listen without defensiveness, agree friendship boundaries and rebuild trust through consistent behaviour rather than promises.

Workplaces were urged to prepare for extreme heat through staff education, safe drinking water, shaded or cooled rest areas, adjusted working hours, suitable protective equipment and trained managers.
