The musical Ingoma Busugu Night Song, set in Durban, premiered on 16 October and takes its final bow on 1 November at the State Theatre, with a run of its last week under way.

The story follows Jabulani, a gifted teenage musician trained in Western classical music, who is drawn to ikatamiya and uncovers the legacy of his absent father, a revered ikatamiya singer.

Somi's Last Song, from a 2014 album, was written in memory of victims of the Dana Air crash in Nigeria, after Somi met one of the passengers shortly before the tragedy.

For vinyl collectors, the key Yusuf Lateef release is the original Atlantic stereo LP from 1968, so check the label design, catalogue number and run-out markings before buying.
