Didiza survives EFF motion of no confidence
The National Assembly's vote on the EFF's motion of no confidence in Speaker Thoko Didiza dominated talk radio across Power FM, 702, Cape Talk and SAfm. Julius Malema argued Didiza had shielded President Ramaphosa by refusing to oppose his urgent court bid against the impeachment process, while the DA's George Michalakis and Glynnis Breytenbach said the motion was too drastic despite their own criticisms. After a chaotic virtual voting session punctuated by insults, 282 MPs voted against and 101 in favour. The ANC's Dumisani Dlodlo framed Didiza's conduct as constitutionally sound; opposition parties vowed the fight over parliamentary independence isn't over.
