   ConCourt clears path for Zuma and Mbeki to face TRC cases inquiry

   The Constitutional Court's dismissal of Jacob Zuma and Thabo Mbeki's bid to have Justice Sisi Khampepe recused as chair of the TRC cases inquiry ran across every major talk station. Power FM, SAfm, CapeTalk and 702 all led bulletins on the four-five split judgment, which means the two former presidents must now appear as witnesses before the Commission probing whether prosecutions of apartheid-era crimes were deliberately stalled. The Zuma Foundation's Mzwanele Manyi told SAfm they had reached the end of the road on recusal, while the Commission said it was relieved to continue its work.

   Hawks' Govender denies R2.5m hit bribe at Madlanga Commission

   KZN Hawks tracing team head Lieutenant Colonel Dhanlan Govender returned to the Madlanga Commission witness stand in open session after judges refused to hear his evidence in camera. Govender denied receiving a R2.5 million bribe from tow-truck businessman Clive Nyker to arrange the killing of rival Bevan Loftus in the deadly April 2023 Durban police operation that left five dead. He also denied any cash, gifts or gratification, though the Commission heard he received more than R3 million in cash deposits from what he claimed were relatives and friends.    Tembisa Hospital arrest and Eskom's R30 billion profit

   Stations tracked two big governance stories in parallel. The Hawks arrested 37-year-old Stefan Joel Govindraju at OR Tambo on his return from abroad, linking him to the R635 million Tembisa Hospital tender fraud that whistleblower Babita Deokaran exposed before her murder. He was granted R200,000 bail at Palm Ridge. Meanwhile Eskom announced its profit after tax had doubled to R30 billion for 2025/26, with CEO Dan Marokane telling reporters at Megawatt Park the utility is now positioning for growth, though commentators on Power FM warned failing municipalities could undo the turnaround.

   Sundowns edge Arrows to set up MTN8 final with Pirates

   Mamelodi Sundowns booked an MTN8 final showdown with Orlando Pirates after clawing back a 1-0 first-leg deficit to draw 3-3 on aggregate with Golden Arrows and progress on the away-goals rule. Goals from Cassius Mailula, Marcelo Allende and Antonio van Wyk gave the Brazilians a 3-2 win in Durban. Coach Miguel Cardoso praised his players' mindset in bouncing back. Elsewhere in the sports bulletins, Springbok great Jochi Jansen died at 78, remembered for his famous 1970 tackle on Wayne Cotterell, prompting tributes from SAfm's sports desk.

   Maternal suicide and the hidden mental health crisis of motherhood

   Power FM devoted an extended lifestyle segment to maternal suicide, framing pregnancy and motherhood not as the universally happy chapter it is portrayed to be but as a period when depression and suicidal ideation are frequently overlooked. The conversation, tied to work by In Touch on empowering women, young people and people with disabilities through skills and purpose, stressed that becoming a mother does not automatically protect a woman from mental illness, and pointed listeners to spaces where survivors can stay, talk and access social workers rather than simply passing through a helpline.
