Ramaphosa uses BRICS Summit to push value-addition for Africa
President Cyril Ramaphosa's address to the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi ran on heavy rotation across Cape Talk, SAfm, 702 and Power FM through Saturday. His central message: BRICS countries must move beyond simply trading with one another and deepen investment in manufacturing, industrial technology, energy infrastructure and logistics. Ramaphosa argued Africa cannot keep supplying the minerals for the industries of the future while value addition happens elsewhere, and warned the expanded bloc against reproducing that pattern. He also pushed UN Security Council reform and pitched India specifically on agriculture, renewables and using SA as a gateway to Africa.
