   Every major talk station led with the discovery of a fifth woman's body, this one in Olifantsfontein, a few kilometres from the R21 stretch near Kempton Park where four other women — including missing runner Elizabeth Mosellahomo, positively identified on Monday — have been found partially dressed and bruised since July. Acting Gauteng commissioner Fred Kekana urged women not to run or walk alone, while a multidisciplinary team including investigative psychologists was deployed. One suspect, a foreign national, is already in custody for the first killing; police say it is too early to formally confirm a serial link but the pattern is unmistakable.

   N1 minibus horror crash in the Karoo

   Cape Talk and 702 tracked a multi-vehicle collision on the N1 in the Western Cape involving two minibus taxis and a station wagon, with 18 fatalities confirmed and three people seriously injured. The N1 was closed in both directions, with traffic diverted via Prince Albert Road and the R407 toward the N12. Premier Alan Winde sent condolences on behalf of the Western Cape government, thanking traffic officers and emergency crews on scene, as attention turned again to the toll of long-distance minibus travel on South African roads.

   COSATU's 15th National Congress opens in Midrand

   Around 1,800 delegates from 16 affiliates converged on Gallagher Estate for COSATU's 15th National Congress, with new leadership to be elected and pressure mounting on the federation to rethink its alliance with the ANC — NEHAWU has openly called for COSATU to back the SACP at the polls. President Zingiswa Losi told Power FM the congress is the 'workers' parliament', convening amid mass retrenchments in mining and retail, high inflation and a cost-of-living squeeze. Secretary-general Solly Phetoe flagged looming job cuts across NUM and SACCAWU as the immediate battleground.

   Springboks celebrate a 3-1 series win over the All Blacks

   Cape Talk and 702 turned to the Springboks' 3-1 series victory over the All Blacks, sealed in Baltimore on Saturday night, as the standout sport story of the weekend. Analysts argued the earlier loss actually made the series, adding friction, anxiety and box-office appeal, and lifting the Boks into the bracket of the world's most highly rated sides.
