On-air predictions, tracked to the outcome

Hosts, analysts and callers make calls on air every day — rate cuts, reshuffles, title races. We extract the falsifiable ones from the broadcast transcript, wait for the horizon, and score them against public sources. Every call keeps its audio receipt.

On 7 October 2026, reports said an anti-migrant group had shut down the Durban Refugee Reception Centre the day before, bringing asylum applications to a standstill.

That means protesters did stop all asylum-application processing, which is the opposite of the claim. The 7 October SABC report shows demands to halt processing, and the Kurrently report says the centre was already shut down and applications were at a standstill.

How this works: predictions are extracted by AI from machine-generated transcripts of live broadcasts (“as heard on air” — transcription errors are possible), and outcomes are resolved against public sources, linked on each card. Speakers are named only when the broadcast itself identifies them. This page records what was said and what happened. The reader poll is audience sentiment, not odds — no money is involved and there is nothing to wager on. Corrections: [email protected].
