Afternoon Drive

Monday, 2 November 2026

Monday's show centred on Western Cape special-voting ballot delays, the SAHRC's findings on Gauteng's water crisis, and a R1.66 billion order against a former Bosasa executive.

1. 15:25

The Pretoria High Court ordered a former Bosasa chief operating officer to pay the state more than R1.66 billion, after finding he benefited from the company's corruption network.

2. 17:21

The SAHRC's Gauteng water inquiry found the province is not short of water. The real problems are high water losses, ageing infrastructure and insufficient plans to detect and prevent leaks.

3. 15:21

Only 10 of Cape Town's 116 wards had special-voting stations open at 8am, because ballots had not arrived on time, causing hour-long waits for early voters.

4. 16:55

Robin Binks says a broken sewer pipe in Parktown North has flooded his garden for months. The contractor dug a hole, then abandoned the site, and the problem remains unfixed.

5. 15:06

The Palm Taxi Rank in Delft reopened after being shut last week following deadly shootings in a rival-association feud. Around a dozen people have been killed across Cape Town in recent weeks.
