The IEC says the ANC had system access but failed to submit final candidate lists on time; the electoral court must decide whether affected candidates can still contest municipal elections.

The South African Bail Fund has assisted 154 low-risk remand detainees unable to pay bail of R1,000 or less, with beneficiaries awaiting trial outside prison instead of facing harsh conditions.

The fund says the state spends R463 daily to keep a remand detainee in custody, far exceeding small bail amounts, while early data shows most assisted people attend court.
