The Clarence Ford Show

Monday, 2 November 2026

Election week dominated Monday's Clarence Ford show, with late ballot deliveries in Cape Town, the taxi violence that disrupted the city, a warning on medicine stockouts, and a fight over a proposed Bergfleet school.

1. 09:01

Cape Town taxis resumed normal operations after days of disruption caused by a dispute between Carter and Codeta over the Delft, Langa and Epping route, which has killed about a dozen people in three weeks.

2. 09:33

Special voting got off to a rocky start: 217 Cape Metro voting stations could not open at 8am because ballot papers arrived late, and the IEC's Michael Hendrickse apologised, saying stations open as ballots arrive.

3. 09:55

50 critical medicines face supply pressures and stockouts, including morphine and oncology drugs. A pharmaceutical executive blamed unpaid provincial health department accounts, which lead suppliers to freeze shipments, creating artificial stockouts.

4. 11:13

Bergfleet residents say their own traffic study finds about 53% more load than the city's assessment, which was done on a school exam day. They oppose the proposed mega school on Rushkin Road.
