Political scientist Vusi Gumbi said the DA has shown greater strategic flexibility in the GNU, while the ANC has mainly changed its governing methods rather than core ideology.

Gumbi warned that the GNU lacks a clear shared vision for South Africa, with its parties still operating in silos while protecting their own political identities.

Youth unemployment stands at 62.8%; Leseri Mpoko urged government to coordinate education, social development and small-business interventions, while young people pursue entrepreneurship and technical skills.

Mpoko identified entrepreneurship, digital work and import-export trading as sustainable income avenues, rejecting conversion of the SRD grant into a basic income grant as an inadequate long-term solution.

The host argued that household and childcare responsibilities should not automatically be treated as salaried labour, calling instead for an African understanding of shared family obligations and non-material contribution.
