IPUSA general secretary Mpo Nkwinika said police killings should be elevated from ordinary murder to treason, arguing attacks on officers represent betrayal of the state.

The IEC recorded 142,072 candidates for 10,526 council seats, while election specialist Michael Atkins warned that proxy parties and ballot fragmentation could complicate local contests.
